Tasty, tangy Bhang Ki Chutney चटपटी भांग की चटनी

Do not get alarmed by the name of the dish as this will not get you intoxicated. This recipe is unique to Uttarakhand and food-lovers just can’t stop savouring this tangy chutney.

bhaang ki chutney chatni


Bhang seeds 1/2 cup (roasted)

Jaggery (Gur) 2 inch piece (use it as per your taste to increase sweetness of the chutney)

Green or Red chillies 3-4

 Salt 1/2 teaspoon or as per your taste

Juice of 3 small-sized lemons (Pahadi Nimbu or lemon gives distinct tanginess of the chutney)


Roast the Bhang seeds in slow flame till they turn golden

Grind roasted seeds with chilli, salt and jaggery

Now add lemon juice

Mix thoroughly to make a smooth paste (chutney)

Relish it with Pahadi delicacies like Aaloo ke Gutke, Bhatt Ki Churkani, Chainsoo, Dubke (of various Pahadi daals) or just dip your finger and lick it.
