Yummy ‘Gudmalet’  गुडमलेट–मूंगफली चिक्की पहाड़ी स्टाइल में

In Uttarakhand, ‘Gudmalet’, popularly known as chikki, is a popular time-pass snack which is made of roasted peanuts and jaggery (gur). Alternatively, til or sesame seeds, and crushed almonds can also be added to peanuts if you feel like experimenting. Here is the recipe from our gourmet expert Meeta Shah



250gm peanuts,

200gm jaggery powder


Roast peanuts and remove its skin

Melt jaggery with about 1 tbs water and cook it for 10 minutes

Add roasted peanuts to the melted jaggery having sticky consistency

Grease a plate with ghee (clarified butter)

Evenly spread the mixture in plate

After it cools down, cut with wet knife in diamond shapes pieces
