Mouthwatering Gujiyas with a twist! लाजवाब गुजिया नए अंदाज़ में!

Happy Holi to all the readers! We bring to you recipe of mouthwatering Gujiyas by our food expert, Meeta Shah. She explains how variations in the fillings can make our Gujiyas more interesting and tempting.

Gujiya fillings could be the regular one made of Khoya or Mawa, while those interested in experimenting can try fillings of Mung Daal Halwa, Gazar or Carrot Halwa, while Date-Nut mixture would be loved by diabetic or calorie-conscious people.

Similarly, for that extra twist, salty Gujiya with filling made of fresh coconut, green chillies, coriander and ginger can also be made.

Knead soft dough of 2 cups of plain flour and 1/3 cup pure ghee by using Luke warm water

For making homemade Khoya or Mawa to avoid adulteration use 1.5 litres of full cream milk

In a thick bottomed kadahi keep milk to boil and then condense it in slow flame

When Khoya is ready, add 1/2 cup powdered sugar with 9 green cardamoms, 1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, raisins ) and also 1/2 cup desiccated dry coconut mix. The filling is ready

Using the mould, use the filling to make Gujiyas. Fry it in Ghee in low flame till Gujiyas turn golden brown.

Serve with a big smile and enjoy Holi!!!
